מוצג ברחבת בית האופרה המיצב: SELEKTION'' - ליל ה- 9 בנובמבר'' של האמן הבינלאומי גוטפריד הלנוויין. המיצב, שהוקם בקלן לראשונה בסתיו 1988 לרגל ציון 50 שנה לליל הבדולח שאירע ב-9 לנובמבר 1938. גוטפריד הלנוויין הוא מעצב התפאורה והתלבושות של האופרה ''הילד חולם'' והקשר בין עבודתו ליצירה ''הילד חולם'' הוא טבעי, למרות שמעולם לא פגש את המחזאי-סופר-משורר-במאי חנוך לוין. המיצב (אורך המיצב הוא 30 מטר- 7 מ' גובה, 3 מ' עומק) מוצג ברחבת בית האופרה. ...

La fotografía digitalizada y el diseño de atrezzo y vestuario para representaciones de teatro serían nuevos campos en el objetivo del artista; fue en 1997 cuando los industriales alemanes Rammstein posaron para él en lo que sería el proyecto de la portada de "Sehnsucht"; el disco llegó a ser editado con seis artes diferentes (uno por miembro) todos obra de Helnwein.
En 1998 compró un castillo en County Tipperary, Irlanda donde fijó su residencia y en 2002 abrió un estudio en los Ángeles; un año más tarde entabló relación con el polémico Marilyn Manson y empezaron a colaborar en el proyecto multimedia "The Golden Age of Grotesque" que desembocaría en el álbum de Manson de 2003.
En diciembre de 2005 Marilyn Manson se casó con Dita Von Teese en el castillo de Gottfried Helnwein siendo el propio artista el padrino de la boda; Manson ha llegado a declarar que "Gottfried Helnwein es mi mentor porque lucha contra la expresión de la opresión". ...

Wie Dir vielleicht bewusst ist, wurde „The Golden Age Of Grotesque“ zum Großteil von Tim Skold von KFMDM geschrieben. Diese Band wiederum ist ein Haupteinfluss von Rammstein. Die ganze Platte hat den exakten Duktus simpler Riffs, auch der Sound war nicht unmaßgeblich von eben dieser Band beeinflusst. Von ein paar wenigen Ausnahmen abgesehen. Auch optisch nähert man sich dem Look and Feel an, es ist kein Zufall, dass Gottfried Helnwein nicht nur das Album-Cover von Rammsteins “Sehnsucht”, sondern auch von Marilyn Mansons “The Golden Age Of Grotesque” gemacht hat und dürfte ziemlich klar machen, dass nicht nur Skold, sondern auch Brian Warner eben diese Band gut kannten. Du brauchst ja zusätzlich nur mal die Logos und Videos angucken. Así es como ha titulado el austriaco-irlandés Gottfried Helnwein ( Viena 1948 ) esta serie de cuadros al oleo y acrílico sobre lienzo en homenaje/memoria de otra serie del mismo nombre realizada por Francisco de Goya. Pinturas que no dejan indiferente y realizadas con maestría técnica. Vale la pena pasarse por su página y admirar su obra. ich heiße Julia-Karolina Saj und bin Schülerin und Freie Künstlerin aus Köln. Ich kenne Sie nicht persönlich und darum geht es auch nicht. Ein Bild von Ihnen, Ihr Selbstporträt, das auf dem Cover von Scorpions Schallplatte „Blackout“, hat mich vor 2 Jahren auf Ihre Kunst neugierig gemacht. Danach haben auch einige andere Ihrer Werke mich als Künstler sehr bewegt und beeinflusst.

You know that question artists often get "If there was one artist you wish you were, who would it be?" Well, I would definitely NOT say Gottfried Helnwein.
And it's not because he's an awful artist, he's breathtakingly talented, but it's his mind that unnerves me. I wonder if Mr. Helnwein read Dr. Seuss's "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" because even Dr. Seuss would be agog at the outcome. Don't get me wrong, this guy is no Charles Manson, or Ted Bundy by any stretch of the imagination but the sorrow and pain he manages to drill down into are devastatingly real and personal. ...

"But before you took him on, he didn't have much of a personality. Only in your stories did he become a real human being."
Barks:
"It seems that way. If you have a story to tell, a story that somebody is going to read over and over again, you have to put some substance into it. It takes more than just a bunch of pratfalls and bumps on the head. There had to be motivation for the different things the characters did, and revenge for their mistakes (laughs). It took a lot to write a ten-page story. A lot of the guys didn't take the time to go into it that far and as a result there were a lot of the comic book stories that never lasted for very long. With my stories, because I worked so hard to make the story plausible and give it a reason for having been written, people would read it over and over again. They didn't throw the comic book away. So these stories are still alive today, while many others are gone and forgotten." ...

Das ist deshalb so schwer, weil die meisten Erziehungssysteme wie Mähdrescher funktionieren: vorne kommen die lieben Kinder hinein, und hinten kommen sie fein geschrotet und gemahlen wieder heraus. Und so werden Erwachsene erzeugt: durch die Zerstörung des Kind-seins, des Spielens und Träumens, der Kreativität und jeder Spontanität. Aber das ist wahrscheinlich unvermeidlich, wenn man sich ordentliche Staatsbürger wünscht, wie Soldaten, Steurfahnder, Zuhälter, Psychiater, Geheimagenten Rennfahrer, Politiker usw..
